Batteries – In debt cost and scalability analysis #22

Elon Musk has said that sooner or later everything that moves apart from rockets will be powered by batteries.

However, batteries will also play an essential role in keeping the lights on in a power grid that is mostly based on abundant and low cost solar and wind power.

In today’s video I analyze the costs of making batteries with a focus on the raw material costs for the elements needed to make these batteries.

I also investigate how hard it is to scale the global battery production to the 16TWh annually that Tesla estimates is needed for making the global economy fully sustainable.
